Thus at Signoria Di Torgiano we would like to soften the castle profile, to reduce its solidness and politicalness by introducing the shape of infinity –- the Womb, a water drop like bubble structure. Made by recycled polypropylene, this flexible space provides maximum possibility for a boundless interior-exterior relationship, in which the barrier that defines space and prevents ones from experiencing the environment has been denied. The free form breaks the rule of orthogonal structure. And by bringing dialectical alternation of proximity and the sense of distance while being inside reception, banquet and ceremony, the form introduces vitality and curiosity to the wedding ceremony. Functionality of a space has been blurred and the sense of “spaceless“ promises opportunities for various forms of activities and expression. While it increases interaction between guests, it is also weather proved and with the pre-manufactured polypropylene module, extremely easy to assemble and dissemble using air pump and maintained with lightweight air vent. Inspired by catenary arch, the bubbles share a firm and sturdy structure that also fosters a dialogue – using the language of dome and arch - between new technologies and mid-century aesthetics.
